This bike is a very well preserved early ’69 K1. It even has the almost impossible to find front fender reflector. This original miles bike has perfect compression, so we went ahead and performed a complete cosmetic refinish including repaint as described in our “about us” section. Since the bike is black we used the triple black, which is 3 coats of single stage black urethane, then 3 coats of single stage black urethane mixed with clear urethane, then 3 coats of clear urethane. It was color sanded with #3000 wet and then polished for a deep, lustrous pool of black. The result is a remarkably elegant example of Honda at his best. The carburetors have been rebuilt, the tires are new, the chain is new, and the forks are polished and fitted with new seals. The 5 speed transmission and clutch work perfectly. We did a small amount of rechroming on the fork trim, but for the most part the chrome is excellent original. We also installed new mufflers from David Silver Spares in England. This bike has been refinished to a very high standard. I think of it as a large Superhawk on steroids, with the same great drum brakes, remarkably precise handling, tidy handlebar, and the styling of the 1960s. Everything works including all electrics.
Priced at $6500. We can ship this bike anywhere in the world at the buyer’s expense.
